Cultural Week - Brazil

Last week was Cultural Week at Good Shepherd.  We celebrated 9 wonderful cultures from all around the world.

In Room 2 we were learning about the colourful and fun country Brazil.  We were so lucky to have two visitors come in to our class to share their knowledge about the Brazilian culture and language.

Denise has been to the Carnival and also does Samba dancing.  Thank you Denise for teaching us some simple samba steps and bringing in your incredible costumes for us to try on.

Fabricia also visited us and talked to us about Brazil.   The children enjoyed learning more about the Brazilian food, football, Amazon forest and learning what is the most important things to the Brazilian people. Thank you Fabricia!

We also had fun practising and learning the Portuguese numbers by playing the chocolate game.  We tried some Brazilian cheese bread.  We made our own carnival masks and Brazilian flags and performed our own parade and samba dance at our Assembly on Friday.  Kara and Xavier enjoyed sharing their football skills at assembly too.  Football is huge in Brazil!

Our amazing trip to Butterfly Creek

On Monday 10th September Sheridan had a fantastic trip to Butterfly Creek.   We had a wonderful day exploring all the different things Butterfly Creek has to offer.  The Butterfly house, the farm, seeing the otters, alligators and amazing dinosaurs.  We loved learning more in our chat with Butterfly Creek Staff.  Thanks to all the parents/grandparents that came along to supervise and help with our Dinosaur hunt.

School Parish Mass Celebration

Thank you to all those families that joined us for the celebration mass today. It was wonderful to see a number of our Room 2 children receive their Good Shepherd welcome candles.

It was also lovely to see all our children on the altar with Monsignor Bernard and been reminded of what we hear and say.

Have a blessed Sunday.:)

Our Assembly

Dinosaurs and Daffodils

Room 1 and 2 did a fabulous job presenting the Assembly last Friday.  We shared some of our learning about dinosaurs and sang the song "If I was a dinosaur".  We recited our poem for the week "Daffodowndilly".  We hoped you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed being on stage.  Thank you to Gretta's mum, Emma and Jamie's mum, Clare who baked and decorated the amazing cake for the cake raffle. :) Here are some photos incase you missed it.
