Koru Pattern Paintings

In Term 1, Room 2 looked at koru patterns as part of our ‘Identity’ topic. The Koru symbolises new life, growth, strength and peace. We found the koru in nature and in art forms, then used what we saw to design and paint our own koru art works. When we had finished we talked about each other’s koru paintings.

Easter Rhyme

Easter is the most important feast in the Catholic calendar. At Easter Jesus died and rose from the dead to save us all. We have learnt to say the Easter Rhyme and made pictures to show what it means.

The Bear's Picnic

For our assembly in week eight, we made a play out of our shared book,
'The Bear's Picnic,' by Joy Cowley. We drew the pictures to make a book for
our classroom. For the play we all made bear headbands and two alligator headbands. Some people brought in their teddy bears and sun umbrellas.  Everyone had a part to play and we had a great time.

Self Portraits in the Style of Pablo Picasso

This term our topic has been 'Identity'. We have looked at artwork by Pablo Picasso and have made a portrait of ourselves in the cubist style he made famous. First we looked at Picasso's work. Then we did drawings in the cubist style. Next we used black marker pen to draw our portraits. We coloured them with wax crayons and after rubbing texture into the background we dyed our portraits with black dye.

Statistical Investigations In Room 2

In Room Two we have been carrying out statistical investigations. We have been collecting information about ourselves and using the information to learn how to sort and display data on graphs. When we have made our graphs we talk about the information we can see.

Welcome to Room 2 in 2015.

We have started the year learning about our school charism. We are called Good Shepherd School, so we found out all about the Good Shepherd in the Bible. We made this mural of the Good Shepherd looking after his sheep and Jesus looking after us.

The Annunciation

In Religious Education we have been learning about Mary. We read the story of the Annunciation fromLuke:1 in the Bible and acted out the parts with a partner. When we looked at paintings of the Annunciation over hundreds of years, we found that there were some elements that were in most of the paintings, including Mary, the Angel Gabriel, the Dove who represents the Holy Spirit, a prayer book and white lilies for purity. We drew pictures of the Annunciation and included all these elements. Can you find them in our pictures?
